LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD
What is THE LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD?
THE LSP is a facilitated thinking, communication and problem solving technique for organizations, teams and individuals. It draws on extensive research from the fields of business, organizational development, psychology and learning, and is based on the concept of “hand knowledge.”
Why use the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD?
The power of
"hand-knowledge"
Through playing with our hands, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD taps into the human ability to imagine, describe and make sense of a situation at hand. Initiate change or improvement, and even to create something radically new. When our hands are used, we create a powerful emotional charge.
Leveling the playing field
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD is based on the belief that everyone has something unique and valuable to contribute to the discussion, decision and outcome. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD levels the playing field by engaging 100% attention and participation, granting the organization a competitive advantage.
Efficient decision making
Through the application of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® process, a group or team can have a clear shared direction, with people who are confidently aligned and committed to a course of action. This can be achieved within a workshop of a couple of hours to maximum 3 days, depending on the complexity of the problem.

When to use the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD and who is it for?
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD is best used in organizations that face a complex challenge. When the organization or team is ready for an approach that will allow for several different, but equally valid answers to emerge, before reaching one shared answer.
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD works best when there is no obvious solution or right answer, and when the manager is courageous enough to admit that he/she does not have all the answers, and is ready to gain insights from all the employees.
Other uses of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD include
-
Increase team understanding without the creation of frustration, dealing with tough and complex issues in a constructive atmosphere.
-
You wish to use time efficiently without having anyone tune out.
-
When you have a situation where a few members tend to dominate the discussion.
-
When it is important that the team finds a solution they can all commit to.
-
When it is highly important for members to speak their true feelings without feeling intimidated or without intimidating anyone.
